Streams to the Sea--New in Fall 2007
Funded through a grant from the North Carolina Environmental Education Centers and generous donations from Betty Williamson & Williamson Realty; and Aerial Photography, Streams to the Sea explains how stormwater runoff pollutes streams and rivers from higher ground as it flows to the Carolina Coast.  Another part of the exhibit is an outdoor rain barrel that catches rainwater from the Museum roof to water the plants around the entrance.
Megabites!  New in Spring 2007
Developed by Volunteers Bethany and Will Ouimet, Megabites is an exhibit about shark teeth found in NC.  Visitors may dig for shark teeth in our fossil area and identify the shark species from the Megabites exhibit.
Sea Turtle Exhibit at Museum of Coastal Carolina--New in Summer 2006
The Legacy of the Loggerhead, a new exhibit at the Museum of Coastal Carolina, opened in late June, 2006.
Designed by Warren Kimsey & Associates, the exhibit is a model of a sand dune with a mother loggerhead turtle laying a nest and also hatchlings emerging from a nest. Visitors may walk through the dune to view the nests from the interior or watch a video about the life cycle of loggerhead turtles. Funds for The Turtle Crawl exhibit were raised through the Around the World Winefest 2006.
Updated exhibits at the Museum
Ringo, the Brunswick oak tree, was updated in 2006. Additional sea animals were added to the touch tank and there is a new aviary for live finches. The Museum of Coastal Carolina features the natural science, environment, and cultural history of the Coastal Carolina region. The Museum offers educational programs for school groups, special events, an outstanding monthly lecture series, and field trips on the island in fall, spring, and summer. The Museum is well known for its dioramas depicting coastal animals and their habitats. The Ocean Reef, a walk-through exhibit complete with life-size models of turtles, sharks, and sea animals, represents the ocean several miles offshore. The Green Swamp diorama depicts fresh water wetland and forest and features dozens of species including alligators, bobcats, and foxes. All species of ducks and geese of the Carolinas are displayed in the Waterfowl diorama in the Coastal Plain Gallery. The Museum also boasts a Native American Collection with pottery, projectile points, dugout canoes, and reproductions of ancient tools. The Sea Shore Gallery has a touch-tank containing live sea animals that live along the coast, marsh, and tide pools.
