Just
in time, Dr. Fred David will present History
of Ocean Isle Beach: From
10,000 BC to Today. He
will talk about his new CD, The
History of Ocean Isle Beach Driving Tour and his upcoming book
about Ocean Isle’s history.
Learn true stories about men and women who lived at Ocean Isle
Beach thousands of years ago. Dr.
David will also talk about Indians, explorers, pioneers, pirates,
shipwrecks, plane crashes, and hurricanes on Ocean Isle.
Find out about other area information such as the dance halls,
Coast Guard Station, pavilion, airplane landing strip, and the ferry.
Hear more true stories about cemeteries, sailing vessels,
tombs, churches, and the spot where George Washington once stood.
He will also talk about plantation owners, stagecoaches,
dueling matches, yellow fever, salt mills, rice farming, liquor
smuggling, circuit rider preachers and Revolutionary War and Civil War
heroes from this area.
Dr.
David is a permanent resident of Ocean Isle Beach.
His family has lived within 45 miles of Ocean Isle Beach for 70
years. He is Professor of
Management at Francis Marion University and a textbook author.
He was captain of the FOLLOW ME fishing charter boat at Ocean
Isle for sixteen years and has scuba dived most of the shipwrecks off
Ocean Isle Beach. He reads
and writes about history.
